Webinar: Advances in Biomaterials’ Characterization

This webinar covered the strengths and weaknesses of standard biomaterial characterization techniques used today. It focused on surface characterization (such as chemistry, roughness, topography, wettability, etc.) necessary to understand biocompatibility, cytocompatibility, and tissue responses. It also summarized mechanical property characterization necessary to understand in situ biomaterial performance as well as biological responses. Lastly, a brief summary of in vitro and in vivo assays was covered. In summary, this webinar defined:

  • Surface characterization
  • Mechanical characterization
  • Biological characterization

techniques necessary to develop the next generation of biomaterials with a focus on current strengths and weaknesses of these characterization techniques.
