Duties:
The Committee shall consider, advise, and make recommendations to the Council concerning professional standards and education in the field of biomaterials and shall be concerned with helping to direct students in their professional development.
Composition:
The Education and Professional Development Committee shall consist of at least five members, but no more than are necessary to accomplish the goals of the committee, with the Chairperson being appointed annually by the President. This Chairperson shall recommend to the President the remaining members to be appointed. Said members shall be representative of the Society membership segments.
There are exciting initiatives underway in Educational and Professional Development at SFB, including the highly successful Biomaterials Days events, the C. William Hall Scholarship, and the STAR travel awards. In addition, a goal of this year's committee will be to help to establish new professional mentorship opportunities for young investigators in the Society.
