SFB Member, Bikramjit Basu- Awarded Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize

SFB member, Bikramjit Basu, PhD  FNAE FNASc FAScT FBAO  was recognized for outstanding Indian work in science and technology.  He was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar prize (http://ssbprize.gov.in/) on September 26, 2016 in New Delhi, India.

This award is considered the highest recognition in the Indian Scientific community. Dr. Basu is the youngest recipient in the Materials Science discipline and the only Biomaterial scientist to date who has received this award, which has been given annually since 1958.

Dr. Basu is currently leading India's largest translational center of excellence on biomaterials for orthopedic and dental applications (http://mrc.iisc.ernet.in/~bikram/Bikram_Website/CoE-DBT/index.html).  This center employs 50 young researchers and 15 investigators from academia, National labs, hospitals and companies.
